February 2012 911 Training Helps Reduce Emergency Response Risks
MMRMA's leadership is centered within a board of representatives elected from and by the membership, ensuring that its mission — to serve its members — remains in focus at all times. This has enabled MMRMA to achieve its longevity and its reputation as a leader among public entity pools.
The makeup of the Board of Directors is designed to reflect the diversity of the larger membership. Four seats are designated to be filled by individuals from a city, county, township, and State Pool entity, ensuring that the varying challenges and perspectives of the entire membership are represented.
Board members' collective longevity in municipal government enables them to lead fairly and effectively. MMRMA's current Board of Directors includes elected officials and appointed individuals from a variety of public entities and departments. This breadth of experience encourages healthy debate and discussion on every issue facing the Board, which means better solutions for the benefit of the entire membership.
The Board of Directors also participates in annual strategic planning sessions to hone in on new initiatives. In recent years, they have identified seven key program priorities to help guide the expenditure of the operating budget. These priorities are:
Membership retention and growth
Financial security
Claims and legal services
Information, education and training
Risk control field service
