MMRMA's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee was developed to assist members in reducing their potential for liability and property losses in playgrounds, athletic fields, and other related areas. The committee is made up of department heads, supervisors, and managers from the park and recreation divisions of several MMRMA member entities.
This committee is a diverse group representing members from across the state. Participants bring a vast range of knowledge, backgrounds, and perspective to issues facing municipal operations. This unique mixture of committee members allows them to understand MMRMA members' potential for loss exposures.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meets every six weeks to review risk management issues, members' loss information, industry standards, and state and federal legislation. Based on that information, the committee develops training programs to fit member needs.
The committee also develops resources and products for use by MMRMA members, including
Playing It Safe brochures outlining playground safety guidelines and the safe use of inflatable amusement rides and mobile climbing walls.
