Partners

MMRMA taps a variety of excellent contract service providers to assist its staff in the day-to-day and ongoing management of the organization, from marketing and member services to legal counsel, auditing, and expert financial management.

Marketing
MMRMA markets its services through an in-house risk manager and a statewide network of regional risk management agencies. These risk managers represent MMRMA when discussing coverage and costs with prospective members, act as liaisons between MMRMA and its members, and present annual renewal questionnaires and renewal proposals to current members.

Legal Services
Defense counsel for MMRMA members is provided by several Michigan law firms with expertise in municipal risk exposure. These firms have litigation experience in all areas of municipal operations. MMRMA believes that aggressive, comprehensive investigation and preparation are the most cost-effective means of obtaining favorable outcomes.

MMRMA also retains a general counsel to provide legal advice to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director on matters affecting the organization directly. In certain cases, MMRMA retains special counsel to assist the general counsel.

Investment and Auditing Services
With oversight and direction from the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee, MMRMA's investment portfolio is diversified to provide consistent returns in both up and down markets with the assistance of an investment manager. An independent evaluation of portfolio performance is conducted regularly to ensure compliance with pre-determined guidelines.

Nationally recognized experts in the area of public entity pooling audit MMRMA's financial records annually and prepare actuarial analyses of MMRMA's retained risk.
