2014 Member Recognition Award

MMRMA is now accepting applications for the 2014 member recognition award.

In 2012, the Membership Committee established the award and qualifying application format. Application criteria and questions include:

  • General description of the program/project
  • Innovation
  • Problem(s) being addressed
  • Participants
  • Expected cost or loss reduction
  • Expense incurred in implementation
  • Results and/or improvement realized
  • Transferability (use by other members)
  • Management support and Member Representative authorization

Applications may be submitted for both risk management and departmental operation projects. Weight will be given to risk management initiatives, but the Membership Committee wanted to include operations improvements, if the award criteria are met.

A first place and an honorable mention award will be presented. In 2013, the first place award winner was Ingham County for its Safe School Initiative, with honorable mention going to the City of Rochester Hills’ Seasonal Employee Competency Program. The application submission deadline is April 15, 2014. The winner will be selected by June 1. Formal membership recognition will be bestowed at the Board of Directors meeting at MMRMA’s Annual Meeting in August 2014.

The award includes travel expenses and hotel accommodations at the Grand Traverse resort for up to three representatives of the award-winning member entity. The member and its winning project will also be featured in MMRMA’s 2014 Annual Report and on the website.

Monetary recognition will include a cash award equal to 5% of the member’s general fund contribution, up to a maximum of $5,000. To benefit the employees/department involved in the successful program, a secondary monetary award will include up to $500 to be spent on an award luncheon or award recognition apparel. In order to provide something tangible to take back to the community, an award plaque will be provided to the member to display within its municipality.
