MMRMA Announces Enhanced Property Risk Control Initiative

Posted: Friday, September 9, 2016

In our latest reports to membership, and at the recent Annual Meeting, we introduced an enhanced property risk control initiative. This will include a series of special bulletins focusing on specific risk control issues.

The first of these bulletins was emailed to MMRMA member representatives on Friday, September 9. It addresses steps you can take to avoid winter-related property losses in the coming months.

Over the last several years, Michigan has seen several severe winters with extreme temperatures and snowfall. Water damage from a single frozen pipe can result in millions of dollars in losses. MMRMA covers $9 billion in member-owned property, including building and contents.

MMRMA member representatives will continue to receive additional special bulletins periodically. We ask that they disseminate to the appropriate individuals within their entities so they can take action to help reduce the risk of property losses. The bulletins are also available in the Members Only section of our website, where registered users can log in and download them. See the Bulletins subfolder under the Risk Management Tools folder.

In addition to the bulletins, MMRMA’s property loss control initiative will feature other components, such as:

  • Updated Best Practices Reviews
  • Service plans to address specific property loss control exposures and recommendations based on field visits
  • Training opportunities for property risk control
  • Information concerning the use of emerging technology to monitor building environments and security
  • Potential RAP grants related property risk control

We are most pleased with this new initiative and welcome your feedback. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact MMRMA’s Risk Control team.
