Call for Letters of Interest: Events Planning Committee Vacancy

There is a vacancy on the MMRMA Events Planning Committee due to the departure of Tom McIntyre, Saginaw County Central Dispatch.

MMRMA Board Chairman Michael Bosanac requests that letters of interest in filling the vacancy be mailed to him in care of MMRMA, 14001 Merriman, Livonia, MI 48154; Attention Michael Rhyner.  Letter can also be emailed to mrhyner@mmrma.org.  

Criteria for appointment include previous service to or participation with MMRMA, candidate’s length of service with the member entity he/she represents, and the member entity’s longevity with MMRMA. Letters of interest should address each of these considerations.  Letters must be received no later than April 10, 2017.

The Events Planning Committee consists of eight members appointed by the Board Chair. Committee members must be officers of MMRMA members as defined in the Joint Powers Agreement.

The Events Committee assists the Board and Executive Director in planning and evaluating MMRMA’s statewide meetings and special events, including the Annual Meeting and risk management workshops.  Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Developing training objectives and curriculum.
  2. Developing themes for meetings and special events.
  3. Developing specific programs and agendas.
  4. Assisting in the selection of facilities.
  5. Selecting suitable meeting venues.
  6. Reviewing and analyzing member evaluations and feedback regarding events.

The Events Planning Committee meets semi-annually in Lansing.  MMRMA reimburses committee members for reasonable travel expenses plus a $90 per diem per meeting.
