MMRMA Introduces Two Employees on Claims and Legal Team

Posted: Tuesday, June 19, 2018

In concert with ongoing objectives related to succession planning and effective, responsive delivery of member services, MMRMA is pleased to announce the hiring of Samantha Heraud and Christopher Flechsig.

In May, Samantha Heraud, Esq., joined the team as Senior Claims Attorney.  Most recently an associate attorney with a Bloomfield Township law firm, Samantha has been practicing professional liability defense, including employment, legal malpractice, and insurance agent defense.  Previously, Samantha practiced employment, municipal, and general litigation in Boston and was extensively involved in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and court proceedings.  Clients have included municipal councils, law enforcement, and public school districts.

Samantha earned her law degree from Boston University School of Law, graduating with honors.  She also has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.  She is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, and the Defense Resource Institute.

Samantha will assist with the management of casualty claims, including litigated claims.  Her work will include oversight of claims investigations and handling, making recommendations regarding claims, and rendering advice to claims staff on case strategy.  Samantha will also provide assistance with the facilitation and settlement of claims.

Samantha is married to Brent and they have a son, Jackson, and a daughter, Lila.

In June, Christopher Flechsig, Esq., joined MMRMA as Claims Attorney.  Chris earned an undergraduate degree in environmental geosciences from MSU and his juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  Most recently an associate attorney with a Sterling Heights law firm, Chris represented municipalities in criminal and civil cases.  He has practiced law in the areas of automobile no-fault and personal injury and previously worked as a law clerk for a Mt. Clemens firm assisting with the handling of general litigation cases.

Chris is licensed to practice in Michigan and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan.

Chris will provide claims adjusting services to members, which will include conducting investigations and making recommendations on claims.  In this role, Chris will provide oversight of complex and high value liability and automobile claims, including managing associated litigation.  He will also act as a liaison to members and outside legal counsel.

Chris is an avid outdoorsman in his free time and enjoys fly-fishing, hunting, skiing, boating, and hiking with his golden retriever at his family’s cottage in Frankfort, Michigan.  He plays hockey and is a lifelong fan of the Detroit Red Wings.

Please join us in welcoming Sam and Chris to MMRMA!
