MMRMA Announces Staff Promotions

Posted: Friday, July 20, 2018

MMRMA is pleased to announce the promotions of Lorraine Zurenko to Underwriting Manager, Lara DeLosh to Claims Adjuster, and Chris Garza to Claims Associate.

Lorraine Zurenko has been with MMRMA since 1991, and her most recent prior title was Senior Underwriter – Supervisor. She commenced her career in underwriting nearly 41 years ago and previously worked for Governmental Risk Managers supporting MMRMA as Underwriting Manager before becoming a member of the MMRMA team.

Lorraine has consistently led efforts to develop members of the Underwriting staff, some of whom have also earned promotions during her tenure in this role.  She has served as project leader over the Coverage Document Committee during the annual review of this critical document. Her work with regional risk managers includes providing leadership and technical underwriting skills to assist the RRMs in their communications with members.  Lorraine regularly communicates with actuaries, and she is a familiar face and positive force in promoting the member-driven philosophy among our membership.

With Lorraine’s promotion to Underwriting Manager, Ray Williams will continue employing his talents in the capacity of Underwriting Practice Leader for MMRMA.  Ray will lend his expertise to the Underwriting department in the areas of productivity, financial performance, writing new business, and in mentoring the staff, and he will also continue leading the Risk Management team.  Ray will help guide strategic initiatives, including those involving Greenstone and membership growth and retention.

Lara DeLosh has worked for MMRMA since 2014. She joined us as an Administrative Assistant and was later promoted to Claims Associate in 2016. In February of this year, she received another promotion and is now a Claims Adjuster.  A former communications/marketing professional, Lara previously worked as a communications specialist with a company based in Troy and in public relations in Genesee County.  Lara also spent ten years as a features editor with Soap Opera Weekly in New York. Lara has a Bachelor’s degree in communications.  She administers claims adjusting in the areas of property and auto.

Chris Garza commenced his employment with MMRMA in January 2016 following a stint as a contract employee.  Previously, Chris worked as a claims processor with KPM Group in Livonia and as a file clerk with a Royal Oak law firm.  Since coming onboard, Chris has welcomed new responsibilities, including undertaking subrogation recoveries.  His efforts have been effective, resulting in recovery of over $750,000 in fiscal year 2018 alone, which returned thousands of dollars directly to members and added to MMRMA’s bottom line.  Chris will continue to handle subrogation and will begin processing some no fault claims. Chris is currently studying for his Michigan Independent Adjuster license.

Please join us in congratulating Lorraine, Lara, and Chris on their well-deserved promotions, and in acknowledging Ray’s new role with MMRMA!
