Announcement: MMRMA Cancels 2020 Annual Meeting

Posted: Thursday, June 18, 2020

After thoughtful deliberation and discussion, MMRMA has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting in August.

While we know many of our members and business partners share in our disappointment that we cannot gather together this summer, we have determined that this is the responsible course of action given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related safety and social distancing guidance. In that environment, we simply cannot provide the high-caliber experience members have come to expect from MMRMA branded events. What's more, this decision is in the best interests of all involved and reflects the heart of our mission: sound risk management practices.

In the spirit of resilience, MMRMA will pivot our event planning efforts to future offerings. We are already looking ahead to an extra special 2021 Annual Meeting, where we will celebrate MMRMA’s “40 Plus One” anniversary.  Watch for a Save the Date and further announcements about our upcoming events.

Special thanks to the Events Planning Committee and Events Planner Denise McGinn for their time and diligence in evaluating this decision. Members can rest assured the committee acted on your behalf and did not take this action lightly.

MMRMA continues to develop and provide training and resources to help you navigate these highly unusual times. Meanwhile, if you have ideas or suggestions on how we can support your risk management activities, please reach out to your Regional Risk Manager, the Membership Services team, or the Board of Directors so we can best respond to the needs of you and your communities.

Thank you for your ongoing support and steadfast loyalty to this organization and your 400-plus partner communities across the state that comprise the MMRMA membership.

While we cannot gather to celebrate as a large group just yet, we can all be proud of MMRMA’s 40 Years of Innovative Leadership and look ahead to many more.
